Review: NETTED by S. J. Higbee

An exciting futuristic science fiction, where all law-abiding citizens are neurally connected (hence, "Netted") and the minority not so are considered outlaws and outliers. Human nature hasn't changed much: greed, cupidity, and conspiracy still exist. Life among the Netted isn't necessarily secure, especially not for the gifted.

S. J. Higbee has a true talent both for suspension of disbelief (her settings seem so real and possible) and of drawing empathetic characters.

THE BIGFOOT SINGULARITY is an immensely exciting nonstop near future science fiction involving Bigfoot, Native American tribes, prehistory, Artificial Intelligence, and alien technology. I read it breathlessly.

Review_MIRACLES OF THE NAMIYA GENERAL STORE

This novel is a miracle! Fascinating--inspiring--truly spirit-lifting. I read it on a day I was feeling low, and as the story unfolded, so too did the wings of my spirit lift, with encouragement and inspiration and hope.

I am so grateful for readers' expanded capacity to acquire diverse literature. This novel is a fine example.

Review_THE WATER-DANCER by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Seldom have I encountered a book so lyrically beautiful, so breathtakingly compelling, so delineating of "both sides of the story," the lives and travails of both "the Tasked" (slaves) and the privileged planter class of pre-Civil War Virginia. Heartwrenching and heartpounding, there is yet a greater joy in store as the novel unfurls. Author Ta-Nehisi Coates is now a member of my personal pantheon of awe-inspiring geniuses, along with the late Stephen Hawking, Tim Powers, John Connolly, and Victor LaValle.

Review: LOVE, PRIDE, VIRTUE, AND FATE by Bharat Krishnan

I don't have much background in Hindu Mythology. Of course I've read of Krishna and Kali, and other personages and events in passing. But I didn't know much, so I am delighted with the newest release from author Bharat Krishnan, whom I discovered earlier this year when I serendipitously read his novel OASIS. 

Here Mr. Krishnan delivers a delectable banquet of 26 anecdotal stories exploring various fascinating aspects of Hindu Mythology, in a fashion that is updated for our contemporary 21st century consciousness and culture.

Review_ SHIFT by Chris Dolley

SHIFT is an immensely intriguing near-futuristic science fiction novel interweaving metaphysics and higher levels of science. With engaging characters and an amazing story line which maintains readers' attention throughout. I anticipate more "thinking Science Fiction" from this author.
