Review: THE SUNKEN TOWER by Tait Howard

Review: 4 Stars

Young wizard Digby, homeless and hungry, fails at thievery and trash-picking, leaving him vulnerable to an odd creature's abduction. Turns out, despite his scrawniness, Dig is sufficient for sacrifice, when combined with 2 previously captured victims. However, despite his current circumstances and general fecklessness, Dig does have an ace: Magic.

THE SUNKEN TOWER is a graphic novel written, illustrated, and colored by author Tait Howard.

Review: THE BATTLE FOR ROCKHOLD by Ike Hamill

I saw this novel more as a Social History, in an Anthropological or Sociological sense, rather than as near-future science fiction. I thought it examined what various people think (or react in a knee-jerk sense), as what happens unfolds in the background. The drive to "personhood" I found admirable. It's the method of fulfilling that which troubles the characters, as would be the case in consensus reality.

Review: PROCYON SHATTERED

What excellent world-building! PROCYON SHATTERED is an exciting and engrossing science fiction novel, first in a series, starring a female protagonist extremely strong in character and dedicated, plus villains ranging from the banal con artist to actual evil. The translation from the original French reads enticingly.

Review: DARK ANGELS PREY by Elizabeth Genovese

DARK ANGEL PREY is a mystical and metaphysical, multicultural, novel occurring in 2 states and 2 countries (U.S. and Canada). Joe is a special individual marked by an angel guide since he was orphaned on his 10th birthday. In contrast to some, Joe maintains dedication to his purpose, whatever it may be. At twenty he unexpectedly finds himself in Quebec, Canada, prepared to battle spiritually for the soul and well-being of a ten-year-old boy.

Review_KEEP THE FAITH (ECHOES OF WAR BOOK 5) by Daniel Gibbs

ECHOES OF WAR BOOK FIVE

Since Book 1, Daniel Gibbs' ECHOES OF WAR has become my "go-to" series for exciting military fiction with a strong underpinning of faith (multiple believers in multiple religions) and a protagonist exemplifying moral integrity and compassion and protection for his ship and his crew.

In KEEP THE FAITH, Colonel David Cohen and crew of CSV Lion of Judah face a more insidious foe and conspiracy "in high places." Reflecting today's opioid epidemic, a new recreational drug has been released on the pleasure planet Gilead, so potent addiction is immediate, so deadly that every addict dies within a year--100% fatality. What's behind this epidemic is horrifying and ultimately dangerous to any who try to stop it.
